mark williams 7,568
Seriously thinking of trying something new for the winter months, maybe summer months too. I have for years built traditional permanent hides as i`m pretty much old school but i get good results - "usually" ish. Anyways a very good air gun hunter mate of 40 + years is having great results with a fraction of the work and i`m being prompted to follow suit "forgive the pun". Paul bought a Seeland leaf suit a year or so back, and simply sets up these days when he seeks out a spot to shoot and he is getting the same results as old school hides. So i fancy a new challenge and change after borrowing his leaf suit. I set up well into cover, under over hanging branches, drooped a little camo netting over the shooting sticks and HW100 kt and wildlife was clueless to me being there. Mind you i love the challenge of "getting real close" and the Seeland made this capability available. First time out over two broken eggs and dead Magpie on a cradle i took a further two this morning at 27 yds, they had no idea i was there what so ever. Change with the times i suppose , any of you lads shoot static hunting with ghillie suits please ? I noticed one "glaring difference"- you would struggle big time, to equal with a pcp like my HW 100 kt , on this deadly type of shooting, with a springer, - the noise and movement involved with cocking, aiming and shooting. A second shot would be impossible to attain. atb Edited October 11, 2015 by mark williams 2 Quote Link to post
