A couple of years ago my mate got a call out from a farmer who had just seen a fox go to ground. The farmer had been combining & had seen a fox go to ground in a single holer out in the wheat fiel

Good post Lutra Lutra, 8 days is a long time to keep looking. It's different when you've a mark, then you'll keep digging but to keep searching is what we owe them.

Neil, a bleeper couldn't be put on the dog because there had been alot of wire put around the pipes. I forgot to mention to the lads on here, but a so called area rep from the Fell and Moorland came out. He shouted at my brother and asked why a locator wasn't on the dog. My brother 20 years ago was at his fittest like many of us, he was and could have turned professional Boxer. My brother retorted 'do you want to be put in the hole with dog and fox.The man went deathly white and even I scared for the mans welfare. He thought he'd done so much just because he belonged to a club. However, I must say the Fell and Moorland does tremendous work.I was trying to put some photos up, but has i'm so used to old fashioned writing styles im rubbish with modern technology. She was in 11 days and to be honest we all know who has been in the game, the longer the days go by you start to lose heart. Also something else which really touched me was that even a mines rescue came to give their help. One of the mines rescue guy mentioned about one of his friends who would have been able to negotiate the place in question. I asked him is whereabouts, and he replied with tears in his eyes he can't make itas he was lost in a mineshaft just last week. That about said it all!

I thought of your post earlier Lutra Lutra as I was looking at the thread on the General forum regarding the under 12" Jack Russell possibly getting KC recognition.

I was going to mention your post on there but decided not to (which is not like me to keep my mouth shut) but compare the constitution of the terriers you describe to those sorry looking Parson show ponies of today.

A pity.

Lutra that was a very good post thanks and did you say 8 foxes in ground at 1 time the vixen pulled the dogs in that's the most I've heard of in the ground at 1 time I think that vixen was a very lucky girl but perhaps not in the end

foxbolter, Bert dug 22 badgers at alton towers when know one bothered about such activities.

I was told about Bert having fun around Alton, I don't know if he had the numbers in one day but I can ask. I do know he and the man he was digging with were being given a bounty, I think I was told it was either the ministry or the NFU that payed out. Apparently they were claiming so much bounty they sent a rep out for the day to check they were getting them from the right area, they were taking both fox and badger.

I've asked the chap for any photos of him and Bert but he's not a well man and I don't want to push to much.

I dig with the son in law of GS from Cheadle Staffs, most of the digging back then was done in Dimmingsdale woods, sadly now just another Forestry commission wood that's more like a theme park than a working wood. Before you boys Google map it and arrive in your droves, don't bother it's hotter than Jessica Albas arse :-)
