A Roamin In The Gloamin

Recommended Posts

Well it was September time and my feet were getting itchy to head North. The truck was loaded with dog, rods and err other stuff

post-31417-0-45367500-1442842006.jpg The weather gods had smiled on us and it was a glorious morning as we steamed into port. My mate swore he saw a sea trout jump as we docked, hes a bit like that though, never stops thinking about them

post-31417-0-99918100-1442842205.jpg We decamped and it was down onto the beach, kettle on and fire lit for breakfast in shirt sleevespost-31417-0-37747300-1442842836_thumb.jpgpost-31417-0-56177400-1442842867_thumb.jpg

I was busy nibbling on my bacon sandwich when i noticed my mate had sloped off down the beach and was roll casting into the crystal clear water  After maybe 5 minuites a shout went up 'sea trout !', i caught a flash of silver but something just didnt seem right :hmm: . You should have seen the look of disappointment on my mates face when he pulled these two beauties out (one on the point fly and one on the dropper )post-31417-0-22178300-1442843165_thumb.jpg

So it was back to base to lay plans for that afternoon :Dpost-31417-0-63102800-1442843285_thumb.jpg

I was rummaging in my pockets and came across a bit of bacon from my breakfast. Now my mate swears by bacon for sea trout and so quick as a flash i hurled my 5 hook rig to the horizon and waited patiently. Now i am normally a dry fly sort of guy but when in Rome and all that  It took 2 minuites before i felt that first tentative pluck and then all hell broke loose, i ran back up the beach, a move i saw John Wilson do once when shark fishing in Namibia, and you know what it worked as a fine string of fish was beached :victory:post-31417-0-58540600-1442843732_thumb.jpg

Well by this time we decided to unwind with a spot of rockpooling and again our patience was rewarded :angel:post-31417-0-21822500-1442843931_thumb.jpgpost-31417-0-02918200-1442843910_thumb.jpg

These trips are over so quickly but dont worry we will be back next september when i have a new method to try out
