I took the nine month old pup out last night for her first look on the lamp with my mate's well seasoned lamping bitch. I let her watch my mate's bitch run and catch one then I gave her a run, after watching the pup run and catch 3 we new she was going to hold her own with the older bitch, which she did by catching half the bag. We called it a night at 20 leaving the pup with plenty still in the tank and plenty of rabbits for some more nights, atb.lurcher%20pup%20on%20the%20lamp%20004_zplurcher%20pup%20on%20the%20lamp%20006_zp

If i took a sapling out with a more experienced lamper id not expect or want it to hold its own.Im more than happy your youngster did well for you mucker, well done, yet id like to get across to others that at times like this its more important for the pup to learn its trade without the owner wanting to compete, competition is for ego,s and nuggets that are more bothered about the nights tally than the dogs introduction.Forget about competition and numbers,it never made for a decent lurcher, just the ego,s that have crept into the fold.Introduce the pup slowly, some are better than others,as the season progresses, its fitness levels and education will reward the patience of the owner, then catch a few, miss a few and be happy.

You do it your way and i'll do it my way, you've never seen this pup run so don't know what she is capable of like I said and have all ways been told I ended the night with the pup having plenty more in the tank , there's no ego or competition with me I gave the older lurcher to the other lad. I'm not on here for advice or a slagging match just to share my days and nights out with the dogs and read about other's doing the same, atb Trev.

Morton it sounds like your saying the man is a nugget with an ego. Like he said he finished the night with the pup still kean after his 1st nights lamping and went home happy with his dog.
