Snapper, wait till you get a pup with some real drive about it. Like this pup of mine.

She isn't happy with a 2 mile walk over the fields like some dogs are. It just isn't enough physical or mental stimulation for her. She is very highly strung.

Like I say, you probably have very laid back dogs that are happy with a walk around the block.

I was worried about her growing joints and tendons etc. So I spoke to Ken a few weeks ago before I started biking her. Because he's a knowledgeable fella where running dogs are concerned.

He agreed that she would be okay with a few miles at a steady pace, he knows I'm no idiot and wouldn't go running her to a stand still.

I'm sick of repeating myself but it was 5 miles dragged out over an hour. It's not a fast pace. Not even a trot for some of the time.

I wouldn't dream of waiting until a dog is 14 months old before giving it some proper exercise.

Don't kids do exercise?

I remember doing 8 mile cross country runs at the age of 12 and swimming for the county before that.

Kids play cricket, go cycling, rugby, football. They don't sit on the sofa and wait until they are fully grown.

And what's her head injury gotta do with anything?

I rested her. Treated her. Took her to 2 different vets to be checked over. Then started exercising her again gradually.

Are you trying to make me feel bad because your dogs haven't been out of the kennel today or something?

I can't work you out.

So are you saying you should wait until a dog is fully grown before you start conditioning them ???

I wouldent run on a bike till a least 14 month especially on shitty roads round here .any 1 thats in to fitness will know that humans pick injuries up road running thats why they say ye best runningon a tred mill Iits know different for dogs

Does it look like I was running on "shitty roads"?

FFS get your head out of your backside. We were on a country park, around a lake and over a golf course. You can see this from the pics.

What's that got to do with anything ... Ah yes you have been found out to be clueless about conditioning dogs so you think a little funny dig about my work will deflect the fact ... Off you go and try and get your already grown dog as fit as a well reared sapling ... Good luck ........
