You cant lamp hares in the dark as it against the law but what about nv as affectedly your not lamping them ?

didn't no it was illegal to lamp hares mac? have you got a link to the legislation? I no you cant lamp birds (apart from ferals) but didn't no about hares

i read that as, so long as you are authorised by the landowner then yes you can? As the ground game act overrides the hares act 1848?

I try not to shoot them if i can get away with it but some times iv got to but iv all ways walked away at night once darkness falls

It's not something I've ever done either tbh, I've shot a few when out rough shooting with the 12 bore and dog but only one with the air rifle and that was day time.

Pressume nv come under lamping so think you can if you cover the right bases apart from on a sunday and christmas. Ill do some more digging though as I'm not 100%

England, Wales and Scotland

The shooting of game at night is not permitted. Ground game (rabbit and hare – which is subject to a close season in Scotland) may be shot at night by an occupier of land or one other person authorised by the occupier, with the permission of the holder of the shooting rights under Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 Schedule 7, unless the occupier has the exclusive rights.

But you cant shoot them on Sundays or Christmas

That's how I read it Ant, only one allocated person either the land occupier himself and one other, someone employed by him for the purpose of protecting crops, the hares count as payment in the absence of monies.
