Gnash there's a few hundred pairs in the forest now mate.

You see them every morning at sunrise coming of Walthamstow reservoirs.

Had a few pairs in the garden the other winter.

They have been about since the late 60s.

 

Read some were they are decended from birds that escaped from one of the film studios in the 60s.

Kew Gardens originally.

Think theres about 30 thousand breeding pair in the wild now.

That was great thanks for posting that Bosun,i cant believe how many there are.....thats definately 100% what it was.......think i,ll be putting more nuts on the feeder in future.   So thats another

I head over to Walthamstow most days anyway......but i would of had a couple more hours in the feather if it wasnt for your tricks

Wasn't the film called The Nile Queen some escaped from.50's or 60's.?..

There are three theories One is the Sheppeton studios and they escaped during the making of the African Queen, with Humphrey Bogart. The second was that Jimi Hendrix released a breeding pair from His girlfriends flat. And the third was that people just got fed up of the noise they make and left their cage doors open.

As you drive down ferry lane they are on the left hand side.

Mind you though, you gotta be early.

Mind you though, you gotta be early.

Think you got me on a bit of a wild parrot chase here !......thought id get out and about early this morning so 5 o clock im driving along Sewardstone Rd by the reservoirs....nothing......Blackhorse Lane and Forest Rd by the reservoirs.....nothing.......even went right round as far as Coppermill Lane i could of dipped my toes in the water.......not a dickie bird !.......plenty of sheep.....no b*****d parakeets though :D

Forgot to add that you see them through autumn and winter.

As now there nesting.

Sp they shouldn't go to far to collect food.

But in the winter thete in flocks of 30 to 60 strong and I've always seen them coming off roost at sunrise flying over ferry lane/Tottenham Hale station.

So thats another " first " for me as i saw my first wild Goldie in the garden last week i cant work out if my garden has suddenly become more attractive to birds or i just havent been paying enough attention :D....good stuff anyway.

nice to here it probably the singing of your own be attracting them mate bin getting grey pates at the feeders in mine shall try snap few shots with go pro neraly all naitve finches vist my garden bar the siskin and bully

if your up and about tomorrow gnash, check pets at home, they sometimes have some in lol

Im gullible as f**k when it comes to wildlife my enthusiasm always gets the better of me :icon_redface: if someone said theres a herd of wild elephants in my garden id be up at the window !.......Think i,ll get a second opinion before falling for any more wild goose/parrot chases :D

Slightly of topic do they still fish the copper mill stream , we used to years ago , the first three swims were the ones to be in , catch fish all day long , first come first served I've seen grown men fighting over who was 1st in the queue ...never see any parrots though !! ..
