Pup With Unbilical Hernia

Hi all look for some advice got a litter of terrier pups there is 7 in the litter there 4 weeks old and 3 have unbiblical hernias has any one had this before will they go on there own or do they need the vet they happy pup and not upset with them or sore in any way

Unless you are keeping them, the Vet will only do something when they are older anyway, so the new owners will be responsible. You are obliged to point it out to them though, as a decent person would. Breeding.........lovely part of the job..yuk! cut the Cords yourself, in the future, will help cut down on Hernias.........the curse of a maiden or rough female.

You need to make sure that they are real hernias, and not just a bit of fatty tissue that got trapped when the umbilical opening closed up. A true hernia can be depressed, pushed back into the abdominal cavity; a small ball of fatty tissue cannot be pushed back in like that, and these aren't any problem whatsoever. Get a vet to check them out if you are unsure.
