Unf Adaptor

Recommended Posts

Mentioned this in another post... But.

My mk1 was bang on. But I thought it could be quieter, the mod is old Skool Theoben, typical Evo mod. It was quite loud compared to my SAK or HW mods. So with the barrel being generally beefy, I got myself a 1/2 inch UNF adaptor which fits well. So went on the HW mod. Somehow, the rifle has lost its superb accuracy compared to it standard mod. So I stuck on my SAK. Again, no where near the standard mod.

One thing I have changed is its diet. AA fields was what I started with, but out of choice moved onto Accupells. Dire. To be honest. I'll go back...

The general question is could it be the adaptor? I can't imagine the mods being the issue, there in mint condition and the 100 is a dream when using the SAK. I want it to be the adaptor rather than the pellet for some reason.

Get your barrel screw cut.

You shouldn't loose much power by switching the mod with an adapter but you can loose accuracy with the mod not being concentric.

Is the adapter a perfect fit for the barrel?

"Diet" could also be an issue. Some barrels can be very fussy

You only ever change one thing at a time. Change pellets and try it, if OK then you should have changed the mod. By changing more than one thing you don't know which one messed up.

Why change the pellets anyway if it was accurate???

To be honest I'd put money on it being the pellets. I've tried accupel in three different rifles (air arms s400 .22, s410 .177 and an R10 .177) and to be frank my 12 bore groups far better. I know a lot of people have good results with them but in my opinion they must be a pellet that only suits a,narrow range of barrels :( Another observation I have made of them is that they are seriously dirty pellets with a lot of swarf etc in the tin, maybe I've just been unlucky and had bad batches but they're a brand I wouldn't go back to or recommend to anyone:)
