Mayweather V Pacquiao Is On !!!!

Recommended Posts

I agree with that Taggy its hard to fight a fighter whos not fighting you......but in Tysons prime guys like Ribalta or even Tucker they were in them fights can you imagine the problems he would of had with a prime Lennox jab he would of jumped on his back or done something ridiculous.......Tyson looked great against no movement but against movement and a jab he didnt have the skills or ability to box his way in or the heart to guts it out.

I think its going to be a big anti climax myself with Mayweather winning quite comfortable.

I see Khan was crying in the paper again today about not getting a shot at Mayweather...the real reason he didnt want to fight him is they dont see him as a big draw...said he dont even draw a crowd i

mayweather will out box him and win with ease.

Yes know what your saying gnasher but went and watched lewis against donaven razor ruddock and he was fantastic and also watched him against oliver mcall when he got ko'd in think it was the second round. Didnt that rhamen ko him aswell, i think it would have been a diffrent fight between lewis and tyson a few years earlier.

The Lewis camp got offered tyson in 91 mate "f**k that they said" tyson would of took his head off in the late 80 very early nintys before his life f****d up I think pal

Don't know where you got that but it's rubbish, and like Gnasher said Lewis wasn't quite ready at that point.

Bit unfair to say he didn't have the heart in his earlier career, he took the drubbing of a lifetime against Douglas yet got up for more, and the 2nd Ruddock fight was brutal to say the least.

Lewis got sparked a few times yes thats heavyweight boxing for you......Tyson didnt get sparked he either quit cold or just stopped trying when he knew he couldnt win.......ones acceptable ones not.....personally i dont think the fight would of been a different outcome maybe just a few rounds longer,i think Lewis was poor in the Tyson fight and could of had him out in 3 or 4 rounds if he had forced the issue more.

Tyson took his beatings as good as any fighter up until the second Holyfield fight tbh. Let's be honest, Tyson had a better chin than Lewis too. I think prime for prime Tyson would knock Lewis out, what set him apart in those days was his defence.

Probably the same result gnasher but i think it would have been a bumpy ride for lewis a few years earlier. Nice to see some boxing coming back on normal tele again. Would that golovkin be able to operate at super middle gnasher?

That fight the other day was the first really good look ive had at him mate i reckon he could take the power up with him easy enough but im not sure he would have the strength of say Froch ( thats a messy fight when you picture it :D )........but you,d imagine its a move he,ll have to make for the big money fights ...whats your take on it ?

I wouldnt say Tyson had a great chin and it wasnt poor either.....lets face it he didnt have to take a punch for the first 40 odd fights of his career you say his defence set him apart but Douglas was pretty much the first person to hit him and he never fought a truly world class puncher in his whole career......Stylistically Lewis and Holyfield both had his number..... Douglas had showed the blueprint for good fighters to beat him.

Gnasher thats the first time i had seen him aswell i had just watched bits and bobs on you tube. I think with his frame probably height and reach would be an issue. Also he didnt like being pushed back which a fully fledged super middle would do. But on saying that hes still got that power.

I,ll never understand folks reasoning for thinking Tyson was some kind of superman......i think Lewis was too cautious in his fight with Tyson and showed him far too much respect he knew Tyson had nothing to trouble him and could be dealt with easily hence why Manny Steward kept on his case in the corner screaming at him to get Tyson out of there.......Tyson was never able to deal with really tall fighters look how he struggled with average fighters like Mitch Green and Ribalta in his prime.....he was also never able to deal with the jab look at the mess Lewis jab had him in even the Tokyo Douglas kept him at the end of his jab can you imagine what a prime Larry Holmes would of done to him with probably the greatest jab in the divisions history yet nobody ever whinges about Holmes being over the hill when Tyson beat him and Holmes beat great fighters with that jab the only good/great fighters Tyson ever fought knocked him out !

i fully agree with you about holmes gnash to me he was the greatest heavyweight of all time and the best jab ever in boxing .a truely brilliant fighter

Tyson was never the same fighter after he sacked Kevin Rooney. Don king got it in Tysons head that he couldn't be the black champion of the world with a white trainer and so promptly sacked him. Tysons last fight under Rooney was the Spinks fight and we all know how that went, the frame of mind Tyson was in that night he would have kod anybody. Let's not forget Lewis fought Ray Mercer in 1996 as he was a similar style to Tyson and struggled badly winning a dubious majority decision, I had Mercer winning by a couple of rounds. Would Lewis have beat a prime Tyson we won't know because they never fought then, they fought when Tyson was well past it.

Holmes is one of the all time greats no doubt but you also have to take into account the times when the different black champions fought. Jack Johnson and Joe Louis fought in terrible times for black fighters. When Johnson won the world title there was murders committed against blacks all over America and the then President of America banned the film of the fight.

Tyson would beat any version of Holmes, Larry was very susceptible to the right hand. Tyson was no Earnie Shavers though and was the best finisher in the business.

Tyson took bombs off Ruddock that would have knocked most fighters out, even Lewis said Tyson had a great chin. Tyson was as good as heavyweight at taking single shots. Edited by DogFox123

Then he shouldnt of been in a boxing ring, when exactly was Tysons prime ? and what world class fighters did he beat in this prime ?.......Fighters throughout history have always been judged on the big fights they had and the best opponents they fought...................only Tyson is judged on the worst opponents he fought !!

I dont think ive ever heard a top athlete given as many excuses as Tyson i put it down to the appeal of his story...........street kid/hard puncher/sweet old man who died/leech of a wife/fast lane life.......its a cracking story i admit.....but it doesnt make him any better of a fighter than if he had been a college graduate and lived life like a monk !

Of course he would say that he knocked him out !......Name 1 noted hard puncher on a world level that Tyson took punches off ?......his chin was what it should of been for a heavyweight nothing more nothing less in my opinion....his big fault was his fighting heart not his chin.
