london355 0
Hello, I'm just applying for a shotgun certificate now and the FEO has been around and I'm at the point of purchasing a gun safe. Even though I'm just applying for the shotgun currently, I may look to get FAC later so I can get a .17 HMR and similar. I have another family member who would obtain the shotgun certificate and FAC at the same time and so the storage capacity would need to allow for a few more guns than for just me. Is there any recommended manufacturer or type of gun safe that is recommended? I was thinking of getting one with the internal ammo compartment required for FAC. Such as this: http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/product/135321c4286d655255758649/Infac+12+Gun+Extra+Deep+Safe+With+Lockable+Top+Compartment+-+BPT12/ Thanks, Tom Quote Link to post
Hunterhartley 8
Brattonsound, good as anything, others will tell you to go for something else more expensive maybe but if you look on the net in right places you can pick up a bargain. I will say one thing though, if your new to shooting get a big one, bigger the better, in time you will buy a lot of guns if you get gun disease like a lot of us did you will be glad of the space... london355 0
I'm looking at the Brattonsound safes, do they come bigger than 9 gun?.... People seem to say you can fit less scoped rifles/guns than the manufacturers suggest. Any comment on the Infac safes like the one I listed? They look good value. http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/product/135321c4286d655255758649/Infac+12+Gun+Extra+Deep+Safe+With+Lockable+Top+Compartment+-+BPT12/ Quote Link to post

Alsollook at buying a separate safe for ammo i know the cabinet has a lock box but you will probably find you want to store your bolts, magazines and other bits and pieces in there. As already mentioned get as big as you sensibly can. Be careful about the highlighted/bold bit above, that may not be as simple as it may seem. Quote Link to post
london355 0
Ok great thanks very much to everyone who replied! Quote Link to post
Tremo 138
Always liked Brattonsound myself. +1. I picked up the 6/7 rifle, extra deep. Don't bother with the safe with the integral ammo compartment. Get a separate ammo safe. You will be surprised how easy you fill it. Quote Link to post

london355 0
Hi, Ok that clears it up I will get a Brattonsound. Is there a bigger safe they sell than the 9 gun? Any recommended dealers or websites to buy one from? These are the only few I found from google: http://www.thesafeshop.co.uk/products/9-gun-vault.html http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/category/Security/Bratton+Sound_1/p-21/ http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/product/284b2f4d610fdff596328935/Brattonsound+9+Gun+Safe+With+Shelf/ Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
Go for the cheapest one you can find. It will probably be delivered straight from Brattonsound in Surrey anyway, but unfortunately they won't deal direct with the public. Quote Link to post
