welsh_hunter12 120
Is there any point in purchasing a beagle from purely a pet home k.c registered and all that only reason i'm asking is because I've been offered the only one that's left from a mates wife's litter and I'm a after a busher but will it work anyone any experience ? Cheers 1 Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,417
No. There's those who'll say different but K.C. and work do NOT belong in the same sentence. Yes there are KC types that are brought out by their owners to do a day's work but for every dog (of any type whatsoever) like that there are 10 non KC that will do the job better. I challenge anyone to say different. Quote Link to post

Cheers If its not costing you too much I would take a chance on it if you fancy it mate. You never see the poor b*****ds off the lead when they are out with there pet owners. My guess is thats because they go off hunting. My mate had a Beagle from show stock that hunted like mad. Im not saying it would have the fine tuned nose of a well bred Beagle to work Hare scent out,but then thats not what you want it for is it. Quote Link to post
fat man 4,742
I would say most gun dogs of every breed nowadays are kc reg and they do as good as any that are non reg.I have had springers that were both reg and non reg and no difference in there work rate,i think its more the amount of work you put in front of them,in saying that i would not take anything that is bred solely for show. foxbolter 447
get it if its a bitch when it comes in season follow ur local hunt and when theres nobody about leave 1 of their hounds mate it. u might inprove the line but u should watch them for a couple of weeks see if they any good u could weaken the line ecspecialy if the huntsmen are galloping around with they red coats on Quote Link to post
