Young rabbits are normally a right pain in the arse at this time of year ... Slipping through the nets distracting the ferrets from the adult rabbits etc ... However today they were welcome as I had l

I think you are on the wind up Kevin.....   Obviously no sane person would get a kick out of destroying new blood,..but when working for wages,..a young rabbit, getting back to ground on a deep ol

Whin it's got nothing to do with wanting attention otherwise I would be obsessively putting up pictures of big bags ... The whole reason for the post is to show a young dogs progress ... Without posts

Being paid for it is no excuse IMO .a mercenary at war getting paid for his actions doesn't justify them.i like to give an animal a sporting chance of getting away and I won't kill during the summer

It's how I make my living fella ... What do you want me to say ... Sorry I can't work all summer as there are cute little baby bunnies about ... Sorry kids no holidays this year in fact no electric water or food and we have to sell the car and my truck because I can't afford to run them ... I have places I ferret for fun and I leave those alone when they start breeding ... But a paid job is completely different and If I say no somebody else will do,it and I lose the contract ... Its a no brainer really ......

Little blue one ... Pretty little thing ........

Your not begrudgingly killing them either you think it's a bonus.wouldnt you get more work if you didn't kill their young if its all about getting paid

Obviously no sane person would get a kick out of destroying new blood,..but when working for wages,..a young rabbit, getting back to ground on a deep old place can cause all manner of problems...Time is of the essence,...its a case of in and out,.on to the next job...

Surely you know that... :hmm:

How can you compare clearing rabbits to killing people in war? Its his job, pest control. If you had a few nests of rats in your house you would want them clearing. You wouldnt leave them till they were fully grown. Rabbits are breedng all year round in some spots

I'm not on the wind up .

theres a difference between rats in a house and quarter grown rabbits in a field.

The difference between ferreting for work and ferreting for sport is that the money will make you do things that ethically you wouldn't do if you weren't getting paid.

to me it's a dangerous mindset if money steers your judgement.

To me and anyone I know that hunts killing young or killing at all in summer is a no no and people won't hunt with you and you'd get a bad name.

they get enough of a hammering by the droves of lurcher men and shooters during season.

but you seem to think that because someone gives you pounds that all of this is null and void

.iv never caught rabbits that small on the lamp and I lamp a lot.maybe because there not out on the land much during winter.

The mercenary bit-if I went to fight for a foreign force opposed to my country it would be wrong

So if they paid me to fight it would still be wrong regardless of what bills i had.

for me I can't morally use wages for justification for my actions.

extinguishing life shouldn't be something you profit from

true, the way I see it, the quarry that's asked to be controlled is rabbits, the owner of the land wants them sorted , ive known people who keep horses, where the rabbits are digging holes etc and most times its in the summer when they loose the horses out in the fields , and these horses are top jumpers worth lot of money, so they want the rabbits off the ground. and feckin rats I get them all the while nextdoors keep stock, horses, sheep, lamas , chickens ive shot few big'uns and young'uns hate the bloody things . rabbits are not a endangered species , theys lots of them in certin areas I just tryng to find them for me dog
