Rez 4,961
Got out today, mid afternoon. Not much to report really, same spot as before, hardly any birds shown up, 3 landed, missed one due to a out of focus twig, very windy mind and perhaps these two were 'planned luck'. Took the pro sport... With it's new wood, now a lefty. Performed as expected. Crono'd and only outputting 9.8 FPE... But the rifle hardly moves and can still do the job it would seem. Both birds had entry and exit holes @ 32 and 37'ish yards. Mac's passed on his rather superb pyke head mask and it was great today with a cold wind thrashing me chops. Nice one mac. 2 Quote Link to post

random 659
Its worth going for any size bag, sometimes it's just nice to get out,you did well if only a few landed in range, that's a nice looking gun as well,on my shortlist for a next purchase and possibly just about edging it... 1 Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,568
Nice shooting, nice rifle Rez . Do the Pro Sport rifles all hover around 10 ft/lbs ? I know its ample power but thought it would have been around 11 to 11-5 ft/lbs ? atb Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
Hi mate. Now this is a question Ive looked into myself. When I bought my PS, it was outputting 10.8-9'ish as standard but it was lovely. Which I was a abit surprised about. On raking through the forums, and the AA owners club, I find that 'most' Pro Sports are sent out of the factory on the lower end of the scale power wise. A chap I spoke to who even rang Air Arms about it, saying that he and his 3 mates bought Pro Sports, none of which sent a pellet out at any more than 9.5, and they told him that the rifle are set that way from the very start. Its due to the Pro Sports liquidy smooth firing cycle and the rifle is 'better' that way. The TX, of which I know well, lets all agree, pretty much the same rifle, still outputs much nearer the 12 @ the 11.5'ish scale. So its rather strange. BUT. I completely understand the Air Arms way of thinking here. The rifle is sooooo fine at the shoulder and the firing cycle, it would be at risk of it becoming like the other springers out there. Clearly 9.8 is enough in the field as above. It annoyed me at the start, but as soon as I started shooting the rifle, I forgot very quickly. I have since, perhaps 2 months into owning the rifle, cleaned the internals over a 2 week period and installed the typical delrin parts from Mr Tb, which, from trial and error has sent the power down a bit, but what I lack in power, I most defiantly make up for in lack of recoil and the average shot fps. The rifle may be low on power, but its a rifle that I can say easily holds it own with Imps, "most" 97's and any other springer out there. Its a joy to use. The rifle is really only intended for the course so the power thing has become a distant thought. Before you power lovers kick off, I know you have 11.5 PS's as standard, v-machs and all that. Its not that there is anything wrong with my PS. Its just best that way 1 Quote Link to post
