I use one's called ezi filler (I think), I wouldn't go back to any other type.

 

They don't drip, easy to fill and there fairly robust. Except when a four year old is swinging a spade around like Tiger Woods :-(

I find the big 1 litre bottles dont leask as much if filled right to top. All i do is unscrew the bolt to take it off the cage and give it a wash.

heavy bowls secured on a wire mesh floor with a piece of baton either side to stop spilling or tipping. lift out to clean and just top up with watering can. no rotting hutches and decent supply of water all the time

If you do use the bottles and find them going green in the summer, put a few inches of water in them add a table spoon of uncooked rice or chicken grain. Screw the top on and give it a damned good shake.

Rinse out the rice and refill your shiny clean bottle

I've got a good mate who builds sheds, log stores, hutches and kennels ect the best quality I can find to the perfect size you need

i'm using a pair of the large, clear red top bottles. i did have one leak for a day or two (the ferts had somehow wedged a bit of wood shaving into the front ball bearing!) but don't have the issues i did when i attempted an open bowl.

 

for the price, they can be treated as disposable items to be honest and its probably worth holding onto a new one as a spare in case of any breakages.

Buy the cheap plastic bottles your hand will never be out your pocket , buy the dearer coloured plastic bottles they will let longer and the coloured plastic slows down Algi growing inside the bottles in the summer

I've had 2 of the cheap ones in my hutch for 5+ years and they're still going strong, though I admit the algae thing is a pain in the arse in summer.

Just use glass instead of plastic, and for Algae use a bottle brush, only takes a min, ive been using this method for years, with no problems.
