Meeks 153 Posted December 28, 2014 Report Share Posted December 28, 2014 Out this morning first thing,perfect weather for it,nice crisp frost.we started next to a little road leading to a row of little farm cottages.3 out the first set,about 15 holes,pulled one out dead that the little Jill had got to grips with.next warren,about the same,3 out this one again,the dog catching one as it came out a hole without a net.moved one,netted a 2 holer and two bolt straight away,one into the net dog was on too the other one gave a good chase but we were in a bit of cover and the dog couldn't get close enough for a strike before it went down a burrow we had already done.one for next yr.netted next burrow,decent size in an old woman's front garden,she was out watching,got 4 from this one.all rabbits bolting perfect.had my eye on a field just next to the woman's garden and she said it was her next door neighbours,went over for a word and he was only to happy to let us have a walk around it see what we could get.wanted the dog to stretch its legs so no nets.as typical,rabbits were not playing ball out here and not wanting to bolt,managed one or two and pulled another one out dead.then came a bit if a surprise,walked back to the guys garden and netted up a 3holer ferret in,heard the leaves rustling and out bursts a big rat through the net,dog had never seen a rat before but anyway he chased it picked it up,then it bit him on the side of the mouth,he dropped it then went for it again dispatching it as quick as any good terrier.haha brilliant day all round finished the day on 13 rabbits and 1 rat! Quite fancy a days ratting now lol.something I've never done.cheers 5 Quote Link to post
