It's been a while since I built a den, so I took the kids up the woods and built this, They loved it... But not as much as me, nothing like den building to bring the kid out in you!! Lol

If you put your hand down the front of your trousers and rummaged about a bit you might find your balls .........

Same here Ken, As kids you knew how to build a den by the time you were 10, A den, a fire and a fish.... Oh and you'd normally find a stash of old porn mags somewhere to hide in your den lol

Brilliant mate ... All mine are to old to take den building now ... I will have to wait for grand kids to do that with now " not for a while though I hope lol" ... Used to spend most of my childhood building dens and sleeping out in them cooking trout from the river or rabbits I had snared ... Fantastic times ........

Lofty Wiseman's handbook has a lot to answer for lol. I remember going on the hop and heading up the woods and making a den and a little for to cook the sausages on me todd. I appreciated time on my own then but don't get much now unfortunately.

That's cool.

Massive den though.

Look at teaching them to build a debris shelter. I've slept in them and woken up to snow outside. Best of all, I wasn't even in a sleeping bag. Just slept out and woke up toasty as can be. If you make it with about 2.5-3 feet of debris, you will be waterproof. If you get up to 6feet of debris, you'll be warm to -10 for sure! Obviously you'll need a lot of debris on the floor to insulate you from that too.

Awesome to see the kids out the house though. Top work mate.

Not sure what a debris shelter is mate? Is it a den made from any crap you can find?

I only know a few ways to build dens, mainly from wood although we did make a great dug in den in the side if a bank when we were kids.

Also dragged a pallet up a tree and tied it off, made a canopy above with branches, top tree house right in the middle of the woods..

 Been a long time since I built a den, from what I can remember it was always work in progress. As once you found a rivals den you were honour bound to destroy it as best you could before they came back. And as a matter of course the same applied to your den.
