Memorable Dogs Or Days Out

Recommended Posts

I was reminiscing last night before I fell asleep, over some of the times out I have had in the field with the lurcher. Its already been 10 years since I started heading out with my cousins and mates with our pack and im only 23 but started young like so many I suppose. Well some of the memorys that are well and truly installed in memory space are as follows.

Catching my first daytime hare just before the ban, we caught this hare with my dads young hancock bred beardie collie greyhound and would you believe it my cousins Alsatian.

My current Lurcher Fly catching her first rabbit daytime at 25 weeks old and lucky enough to catch it on old video camera.

The same lurcher Fly catching two hares of one slip whilst out with my uncle. I slipped fly onto one hare which she caught after a couple turns and then joined in the run with my uncles dogs which were already running another hare. Fly drops her hare and goes onto catch the other hare as well.

Catching the 40 plus rabbits on the lamp with Fly whilst lamping the dales with TOMO and his old bitch Tara caught the same accounting for 80 plus rabbits that night. We should have carried on to the hundred . Hes been and done it since with two dogs the jammy git.

Coming so close to beat LDR's dog (Bruce, the dog that won it both year) in the lamping comp. The score ended 21 Bruce 19 Fly. She spilled one which would have made it 20 - 20 and then Bruce caught his 21st and time ran out. Great night again.

Pulling deer become all to common at one point and then one time Fly injured herself very badly. She ran this Big roe buck around this field, pulled it by the hind leg . They both went down together. The deer jumped back up but when Fly tried to stand she just toppled over again. It was the worst tear in the muscle I have seen . I couldn't carry her back and had to get the farmer to help me home. Not a very happy memory but she made a full recovery and continued to track deer.

Well they are just some of the many memory's, now whats yours?
