They can drill in my back yard with the greatest of pleasure. I'd have a f*****g Nuclear power station as well! LOL

As long as they dump the toxic residue else where?

From what I have read it is mainly Derbyshire, Lancs, Cheshire and parts of another couple of counties that will be affected, although they are testing in Kent, Sussex and Hampshire.

Where is the toxic waste going to go?

TC

What toxic waste? The natural radioactive isotopes found in shale formations? From what I am led to believe drilling companies have to meet EA standards and remove the vast majority of rads from the fluid to levels below what spring water has!

Fracking fluid has to be non toxic to be used in the UK also.

BH I have a great respect for what you have achieved in your short life so far. But, I really think you need to grow up and smell the coffee. To the oil companies, fines are just like another tax. The

You can guarantee that each and every minister that voted for that was a NIMBY. It is the same with Farage, he is for fracking, clever move as the people in the big cities, who it does not impact upon

I'd like to know how fracking is going to "desicrate" our national parks?   Personally, I say take advantage of this resource now!

do you lot seriously think the goverment would go through with fracking if it posed any risk to us i think not they might be lying c**ts but there not wanting to put peoples lifes at risk and as for the national parks and places of interest they have already said they will go no where near them

But it is not just the natural isotopes is it? It is all the chemicals needed to extract the gas that then become waste.

The vast majority, but not all!

And I promise I won't come in your mouth springs to mind.

TC, what part of less than spring water didn't you understand? They don't need to remove it all. Why does everybody shit themselves when they hear the dreaded R word.

Like I said, those fracking fluids have to meet EA regs, the drilling companies can't use anything considered toxic by the EA. The whole industry is air tight with regs.

Of course people break the law. What do you want me to do, oppose any regulated industry incase somebody breaks the law? The companies involved in this will be overseen by the EA. If they get caught playing silly buggers, they lose their contract and get fined to shit. Believe me, stuff like that sends companies under! The disposal of rads is monitored very closely in this country.

solar, wind, water, simple ......

Tidal, wave and nuclear fusion.. Put everything we have into those 3 until they work and we're laughing.. Fracking is only ever going to make people rich in the short term and postpone the inevitable IMO.. I'd like to hear NikB's thoughts on the subject, the thought of fracturing and lubricating stratified layers of rock under huge pressure dont sit right with me. Anyone living close to a Fracking site might want to check their home insurance and see if it covers earthquake damage..

They have no environmental conscience, only the bare minimum, what they are told they must do, will they do.

All that matters to them is the buck, plain and simple. If they get fined 1million and the reason for the fine earned them 2 million. then they look at the fine as an expense, and consider the whole episode as a winning strategy. No matter what the environmental cost.

TC, here we go again, the "you're too young to know what's best". I work for an oil services company, specifically in drilling/formation evaluation. I've seen the effects of fines, in my short time. I've listened to our CEO giving it the all caring shit matters speach to us, you think I'm that gullible? But you're wrong, they do care about the environment.... why? because not to effects profits! Getting caught breaking the rules costs them very heavily.

I'm not an expert on fracking, or anything. I'm having an argument on it's merits, nothing more. I'll debate with any of you on the topic, just don't pull the "you're too young" shite.

And as for giving you credit for intelligence, mate I would'nt be talking to you if I thought you were thick. Intelligence does'nt come into it, we're just two average guys talking about fracking.

I do hope everything is good with him. He gave me some much appreciated career advice a while back and his shooting posts were very refreshing, his enthusiasm was infectious.
