Deker 3,491
So there I was on a new site last night, 2-3 rabbits already down, another in the crosshairs circa 50 yards away, pull trigger...CLICK-NOTHING (Oh ****) maybe half a second later BANG!Rabbit falls down and I'm mighty relieved. It is strange how many thoughts can go though your mind in a very short time when things go wrong.Nothing wrong with the case when I ejected it (although I have a growing number of split cases), my guess is poorly spun primer, the propellant did the job and rabbit was deceased! Had this quite a few times deker delayed fire, only with HMR rounds though.. Quote Link to post
celticrusader 78
Really! I have with 22lr and 12 bore but I've never had any problem with .17hmr...waiting for the round for a minute and then safely discarding of them. Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
I don't have a hmr, but i've had hangfires with probably every other calibre. The wait seems endless. Quote Link to post
andyf 144
I once has a duff box of shotshells, several had no powder, so a muffled 'phut' but even then just the pressure from the primer alone was enough to eject the plasiwad and shot out of the barrel and about 6 feet in the air. Almost funny, but if it had stopped 1/2 way up the barrel and in the heat of the moment (i.e. Pigeon Decoying with birds all over you), a second cartridge might have blown the barrel apart? celticrusader 78
Oh dear...Weren't baikel were the andyf? Quote Link to post
andyf 144
No not Baikal's that time, I think they were Fiochi's (Italian, but no Ferrari). I have used Baikal's though, lots of flame and very 'sooty' you end up looking like Fred Dibnah on a bad day! Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Look like Fred Dibnah only with a broken shoulder I seem to recall from the old Baikal "Rekord" cartridges, they hurt I pulled the trigger on a very well respected English cartridge maker's round once and no less than 6 seconds later did it go off, longest and most dangerous six seconds I ever hope to have. abarrett 462
Hang fires or miss fires no longer hold any excitement for me The reason for this is I own a hatstand 1 Quote Link to post
