air gun ant 1,666
Sounds like I'm going to be be doing my rope access course soon, has anybody here done it? What should I expect? Also be doing my offshore survival with any luck, I'm 28 fit and healthy (ish) and done my confined spaces, EBA, SKATS etc just wondered if there's any other "dopes on ropes" lol
longdog98 7
Did mine in 2008 after years of tree climbing. To be honest its pretty easy physically, the equipment is streets ahead of tree climbing kit especially as i was used to climbing on a prussic and nothing is left to chance with the safety side of things. As a level one you will always need a level three with you to rig until you've completed your hours. After all the paperwork you'll probably be desperate to get on the ropes but i did find the course very interesting and certainly opened my eyes to the risks most arboriculturists take on a daily basis. I only ever did one job which just covered the cost of the course but that was because i wasn't prepared to work offshore. Good luck with it mate,Im sure you'll love it

abarrett 462
Just remember when working off ropes tie everything on zip everything up its a ball ache if you drop something and have to go down for it Double check the work on the way down its harder going up than coming down And most of all tie a knot in the end of the rope so if it's not long enough to reach the ground you won't come off the end And don't let the loose end lie on the ground some idiot will ether walk shite over it or grab the end and swing you Make sure the top of the rope is in a secure area I always have visions of some one looking over the edge with a smile on their face and a blade in their hand lol But it is a great job
