oneredtrim 148
Tour De Pharmacy? All on drugs! Everyone knows it. Having said that, I really don't care. I could pump up with all the drugs those guys take and there's no way I could do what they do!!! I'd not even be 10% as good as them. We'll be watching it from home. Will try and catch the final stages at our usual TdF Final Stage pub, in Woolacombe. Am I excited? A little. The wife loves cycling, so she's well hyped. Drugs wont give a human 8 litre lungs Very true. But they do increase the efficiency of lungs, the ability for the heart to sustain increased stressloads, the rate of ATP production, the amount of haemoglobin (and thus oxygen) in the blood. They also increase the number of nerves that fire in the muscle thus increase the number of muscle fibres contracting. They increase the ability of the body's recovery rate, and much more. i'm a bit busy Remy to get all google on here but if you're gonna post dont forget to mention erythropoietin and the mysterious cyclists who drop dead from the partaking of, did you see the kid on the cracknell endurance tv show just recently and the the small parcel of natural food he took with him (what a lark)...cracknell did well for a largish lot with all his injections and finished half dead..the winner and his small parcel crossed the line with a front flip and did an interview within 15 seconds.

cragman 2,843
Heard today they're laying buses on from Glossop to near the bottom of Holme Moss, just where the main road crosses the reservoir. I'll be cycling the few miles up Woodhead on the mt bike. I might even be working on it as work own land around there.

I mention no drugs as I don't want to look like a Cycle Team Doctor haha. If anyone wants to research drugs in sport there are loads of books about it all. For cycling, start with The Secret Race.
