whitefeet4190 1,729
Yer maybe I can understand a few runs on rabbits but unless u are keeping ur dog 100% fit over summer which is pretty much impossible with the heat I wouldn't purposely go out looking for runs plus I do it as a hobby so I like to let everything breed and get fit before I run my dog on them unless I get a phone call say something needs getting rid of then I have to do it but 9 time out of 10 I'll use then gun at this time of year if it's not for sport, but like I said each to there own Quote Link to post
mushroom 14,056
Used to hunt all year round at the landowner's request usually with the gun and dog. The golf courses are the ball ache, can't ferret, can't wander round during the day with a gun as the courses are busy as fec in the summer so it was early mornings and late nights with the lamp, gun and dog but as for actually running the dog.. Nah let them be till the season starts 1 Quote Link to post

Out at 3.30 this morning and couldn't believe the number of hares in meadows where a few years ago there was but a handful. Mild winter and crap dogs must be the reason Quote Link to post

Hixxy1979 18
anyone else noticed how many rabbits are about this year or is it just me were I live there's thousands this time of year. I'm in Bedfordshire. I don't have the arm or heart to stop my saluki I just alternate lead walking when hot or really hard ground is under us. I do look for softer ground to run him tough and luckily there huge grass field behind me full of rabbits so just let him to it. Needless to say can't wait till the back end when there's less cover.
