shropshire dan 467
Hi all how does a open ticket work. My understanding is that with a open ticket I can shoot on any land I feel safe and suitable. Thanks in advance 1 Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
That's correct - for the calibres specified on your ticket - as long as you have permission to shoot that land. Quote Link to post

doie1 22
jumping in on the post here sorry dan, but how long do you have to be shooting for before you can apply for an open ticket Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
Cheers chaps. No worries doie1. Ive had my fac approx 9months now for .22lr and hmr. Feo said I can now have a centrefire and when I send variation ask for open ticket. So in my case 10ish months but I am literally calling him every week with new land as I get alot of one off requests for rabbit and fox control. Not long term permissions just quick jobs Quote Link to post
The one 8,594
Open tickets the way to go if you get any new permission you don't need to wait to get it cleared 1 Quote Link to post
doie1 22
Thanks dan, I'm new to the firearm side and looks like I might need a few more permissions before I can get an open ticket. Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
As it is with me my family is a farming family so know all the farmers around wem as its tiny. I get new jobs weekly so probably does the fao's nut when im calling him all the time lol. 2 Quote Link to post
sussex 5,803
Back in the day you automatically got an open ticket when you renewed it after the 1st term ....I assume it is still the same today , although one of the guys I mentored went from grant to open in 12 months , the fastest I have seen .. shropshire dan 467
I think I've shown my fao im trustworthy at judging land. Since getting my fac (9mth) ive called to have cleared probably 50 plots of land which have all been passed. Quote Link to post
celticrusader 78
After I held mine for 5 years on my second certificate I received an open whilst enquiring about it the the feo, I was told by him that you build a portfolio of your history with firearms (papertrail) and in doing so proved you are safe and have had no problems with this so restrictions lifted. But you can apply after shorter periods of time like 10 months as said above..the only advice I can say is get out there and hunt the nuts out of it and they will see from the amount of ammunition you go through on you ticket. 2 Quote Link to post

Deker 3,491
jumping in on the post here sorry dan, but how long do you have to be shooting for before you can apply for an open ticket You don't have to be shooting any time, you can apply at initial grant, and more than a few get one then! Every situation is looked at on its own merits, then of course there is your regions Policy and what your FEO had for breakfast. It is quite common for them to be automatically opened upon first renewal, but take nothing for granted! 1 Quote Link to post
