Ireland Docking Ban

Recommended Posts

There isn't an out right ban on docking , gun dogs and terriers can still be done

That's what I thought?

I think you have to produce a gun license and the dog must be done before 6 weeks old. That's what happened with my cocker anyway ;)

Wrong, you only have to produce a letter from a land representative saying the pups when older will be worked for pest control, some anti docking vets will ask for gun licences etc to make it a pain for you but it's not a legal requirement..

Yes, the new Animal Health and Welfare bill 2013 makes docking illegal but there's exemptions for some working breeds and docking can only be done by a vet.

Where does animal health stand on bringing un-inoculated 6 day old pups into a vets surgery ?
