Land Rover Disco ?

Recommended Posts

I had a 2002 Td5 which to be honest I did like, but wouldn't have another, constantly needing new parts. It had over £7k's worth of receipts!

I now drive a 80 series landcruiser diesel.....And 5 grand would get you a nice one...

Failing that I would go for a hilux or landcruiser Colorado, but neither comes close to the 80!

With older cars I always think the running costs are going to be higher, my P38 cost me at least a grand a year in parts and servicing. If someone had a jap 4x4 of the same age would they really be spending that much less?

Typically you are right running costs are going to be higher in older motors. But there are exceptions.

My 80 series is 20 years old this year, they are over engineered in every way. From the quality of metals used to the big refined de tuned engine that gives epic reliability.

Even today when people need a vehicle where there life could depend on it they choose 20 year old landcruisers or patrols.

Apparently they don't make em like they used to!

But any motor will want looking after...

My TD5 had oil in the loom to ECU which caused misfires, the airbag suspension had leaked and the compressor went up the creek so was put on springs, the fuel pump went as well. The windows and sunroof leaked...Just one thing after another...

If I had to spend a grand a year, every year on parts and servicing, I would set fire to it.

Landrover=utter shit, unreliable, expensive and need more than just "a good pair of boots" to go anywhere.

if you can drive a landrover proper , a good set of tyres on one will get you any where

Tell you what. I bet you a boot in the balls, a standard landy with good tyres won't follow me around in my standard shogun with same tyres.

So please stop talking shite
