ryaldinhio 5,188
New to having ferrets lads and due to recent work commitments i havent even had managed to get my two out once. i got the ferrets just before xmas and was regularly handling them both, one hob one jill. Since xmas i have been workin 12-16 hour shifts 7days a week. As such my time with the ferrets has been limited to feed fresh water clean hutch n back in. This has been done anything between 8pm and midnight so has been under torch light. Now the daft hours have stopped at work and im guna get back to handling them often. Now i went in tonight and had them out running around the shed and everytime i tried to pick the jill up she was whiping her head straight round to bite me. She wasnt like this before. What do i do? Is it just time to take a few bites until she gets past it??? Do i wear gloves until she gets used to bein picked up?? She isnt aggresive any other time, she isnt shy and doesnt hiss or fluff up or anything but with this she has put me on back foot! I dont have a lot of confidence trying to hold her now and it does my head in! Help! Quote Link to post
Gaj1612 99
Handle handle handle and handle Don't wear gloves or they get used to only bein handled with gloves on. If they bite just push your finger down in there mouth. And the. Handle them more. Quote Link to post
Nick3439 83
I hadn't had ferrets for 10/15 years when I got a hob and Jill in November and was surprised at how nippy they were as my last memories of mine were of totally handled ferrets not two kits... Once I realised the 'nips' didn't hurt unless I pulled away, I just took them and as mentioned pushed back in or scruffed them... It pretty much sorted them after a week. Except my socks. They still want to eat my socks. Quote Link to post
