How Long Can You/do You Leave The Ferrets In The Carrying Case?

As the title says, how long can you leave the ferrets in the carrying case whilst you are out ferreting? This includes travelling to and from permission and the pub on the way back

They sleep for 18 hours a day in 6-8 hour bursts; so I wouldn't say for more than 6 hours? But then the longest I have them in my box without checking on them is probably the 20 minute drive

All day! Obviously there in and out in that time as i genrally rotate my ferrets when working,check them when i arrive normally give them a drink and a little snack if iam out all day.If your box has dry bedding and is of sound construction they will be fine.

They will be fine all day mate including an hour or two in the pub after

around 2 years, there isn't much left after that length of time - although its normally 2-3 hours with grub like liver or something.

It's okay just now as it's cold but a warm day worry,s me I check on them as I travel and wouldn't leave them in a carrying box in a car if it was warm , there was a programme on tonight saying dogs can over heat in a car in fifteen minutes be much less for a ferret

I made a transport cage that fitted in the rear of the 4x4, I could then take out 10 young and older ferts, leaving most in the cage and just taking 2 or 3 in the box to the warrens, that way they could be rotated throughout the day,letting youngsters run with the old un's if we were having a long day, other than that, 3 ferts in a carry box all day

I used to put this small ferret cage in the back of my old van,, if I was away for a while,,,, but if it's just for the day,, I can't see probs with just the ferret box
