Hob&Jill 258
I was out ferreting yesterday and my hob got a right kicking from a rabbit. I assume it was a bottled up buck or something. Could it have been a rat? Just want to check I done right, I cleaned it with warm water then applied some germaline. Probably not needed but wanted to make sure. Pic taken after been cleaned up. ATB, H&J Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Looks like rat bites I've seen, mate. The rat clamps down on their heads as they clamp down on the rats throat. Given room and a fleeing rat, they go for the base of the skull and it's cleaner. Anyway, always look at their claws when they come out. Fur between them means they've had an arse up Quote Link to post
Simoman 110
Just keep it clean and check it regularly, should be right in no time. Quote Link to post
marko 30
rat bite that mate as ds says just bathe it a few times a day for a few days try using dettol cream on the bites i find it better than the germolene for some reason sometimes i have had bad bites go manky with germolene also when im out ferreting i take a bottle of water with dettol in it plus some wipes to clean up the ferrets while im out saves waiting till you get home especially if its a long day. Guest MOLLY
I'd say rabbit How many cuts/scratches? All the rat bites ive seen are usually singular/double very deep and bleed alot, that looks from the photo like alot of superficial damage in different areas. MOLL. Quote Link to post
Hob&Jill 258
Ditch, Come to think of it he didnt have the matted fur in his claws, didnt think about that at the time He did also come out with a bottle-brush tail. Although I have a ferret whos tail goes like that everytime she is worked. It was only the second time I have worked him. I got him of ferret15 on here. The main cut is just above his eye, the light red blob bit in the pic. The are a couple of stratchs around the bottom of the eye. Am I right in thinking rats bites are anticoagulant? Just the cut didnt seem to clot up quickly, it was still weeping when I got home. The pic actually makes it look worse than it is, it is basically one cut and a couple of scratches. Thanks for all the help, I will try and get another pic tommorow as it is looking much better now. H&J Quote Link to post

COMPO 54
i would say rabbit kick as well, i have seen ferret's with completely bald and bleeding heads after being doled out lots of abuse by a bottled up rabbit, I have also had the same from rabbits when trying to pull them out of nets or holes i always win though and they end up dead I would just use some boiled and cooled water with a bit of salt mixed in and then rinsed with non salty cooled water, should be ok soon enough Quote Link to post
