Bosun11 537
Maybe someone on here will help you and get you out, though I can't help thinking, why don't you just sort your dog out yourself? Not like rats are difficult to find! Apart from dumped rubbish, ditches or landfill's etc, i'd be you'll do well mooching around McDonald's shrubbery's at night with a torch. Get out and knock on a few crusty farm doors etc. Funny but thinking back to my youth, once word got round that I kept terriers and was on the lookout for ratting, the offers would pour in, from people who had the odd rat under their garden shed. I think people think, because they've watched You tube clips of hundreds of rats being slayed, that that's the only way to go... Take a spade along a dirty 'ol ditch, or a torch around dumped rubbish at night and you'll have some bloody good fun. Quote Link to post

bullx100% 681
Fair comment mate. All of the things you suggest I do I just reckon me dog would benefit from working with experienced dogs and I would from experienced lads plus I could have a bit crack with people interested in the same things as me coz all me mates round the doors arent interested thats all i understand what you mean pal it is hard to get your foot in the door kind of thing especially if there is no one you no to show you the ropes.you terrier will have an instinct to kill rats(either he will or he wont) if he does like to kill rats then soon enough hell start marking holes then [BANNED TEXT] he starts marking get your self a shovel and get digging soon enough they be out....the more he sees the better but he doesn't necessarily need to watch another dog as killing vermin is bred into terriers..one thing i will say tho is a pair of terriers would be better than just the one and will account for more rats.if you no anyone with lurchers then ask them if they fancy a bash at some rats with you. and also if there is any allotments near you what have pigeons or chickens on them then ask them if you can do a bit of ratting on there if you can then maybe put another post up on here offering someone who has experience and a couple off experienced terriers a day out that way by u suplying the sport for the day then you will be gaining experience ...........then maybe thery will offer you a day out...... 1 Quote Link to post
