Collies?

One of the best all round hunting dogs I've ever seen was a border collie by the name of Moss. He's long retired now but he helped his owner catch a lot of game. Does anyone use a collie for bushing?

I.v a mate that use,s 2 for bushing, beating and marking, you can see why they can make a good base for a lurcher, buster.

Aye,..I've seen plenty of collies working the woods/brash...and when they are good they are very,very good,.........however,..when they are bad,...they are fecking horrid

if you have the time and the desire, you can teach them anything. probably one of the smartest breeds.

The one I know would work nets well, kill rats happily, retrieve a pheasant over a five bar gate when out beating... you name it, Moss seemed able to do it! If I could guarantee one like him I'd get a pup tomorrow!

No,..I've had several collies,..that one belonged to Hywel,...a keen rabbiting man from Aberdare...

 

We realy should have used him over a Greyhound bitch....too late now...

Thought I recognised him... that's Moss, the collie that started the thread! He's still alive, though long retired. He's without doubt the best all round dog I've known. I'll show Hywel that picture when we're ferreting in the morning. You're right, he would have been worth using on a greyhound bitch!
