Born Hunter 17,910
Do you want the whole job done? Chopping out, new half, burner fitted and fire place tarting up? You want a liner fitted? There's some simple equation to work out what size burner you need, I think 8kW should be fine for that but depends if you want it for fixed up to a back boiler or CH.... My folks had one fitted and didn't see much change from £3k! LOL

LOL the fire surround and hearths in but the back will need tidying up theres a chimeney in but I`m guessing it will need a flue/liner ? and at 3k she can go without
TOMO 28,812
Look on the stove sites stig,,, there's normally a bit where you put in your room dimensions ,,width length, and hight, and it calculates what kilowatt output you need..

TOMO 28,812
I've been looking myself latly,,, and from reading stuff,, it looks quite easy to fit a liner,, and a plate in the flue in the open fire ,,, there normally a standard size,,, you can buy a full flue lining kit for around 200 quid on line,,,
TOMO 28,812
Just typed in your dimensions,,, I estimated 8 foot high it said 7.3 kilowatt is needed.

Different diameter and different life span ratings and then you better make sure you measured it right because they have to be one continuous piece apparently with no joins? I'm looking to sell up and move to a small rural place in the near future and I'll deffo be having a quality log burner fitted but there's no fecking chance I'll be paying for the work to be done! LOL.

Nik_B 3,791
I did it for a grand but didn't use a HETAS registered person because they are a flaming rip off or were at the time as it was getting fashionable. Buy all the stuff separately and then get them to fit it so you aren't paying silly money. Also be careful not to get a stove too big, they use more fuel and you wont be able to sit in that room lol I have a 4.6 KW stove for a room about 4x5m and it is too big.
