They clocked the damage, guessed the result and took the action required to stay alive. The bravest guy has to be the dude who landed that damaged plane though, he could have jumped to assure his survival but instead of leaving more falling parts in the sky risking others, he landed a plane that could have at any point gone wrong and killed him.
