Ideation 8,217
I was just looking at Aigle wellies . . . . . how come you can buy them cheaper from a supplier on ebay than you can buy from aigle themselves . . . . . ??? Or am I being dumb.
WILF 51,288
The manufacturer cant be seen to undercut the dealers or the dealer network will soon fail so they stick to RRP, the dealer however can make whatever margin he wants over and above the wholesale price
Ideation 8,217
Yer that was my thought, but some of the differences are pretty big. RRP is £168.00 for the new 'anti-fatigue' parcour iso 2, and on ebay, from some place called 'Hope Valley Saddlery' or something, they are £129.99!

Or am I being dumb. Probably because if you could buy them cheaper direct no shop or distributor would buy them from Aigle as what would be the point in stocking their product. Rake aboot 4,936
Supplier always sticks to RRP to allow the rest of the sellers to make whatever profit they like over wholesale price without undercutting them

Don't know about wellies but in many cases the dealer net price will be 50% of retail which it needs to be so that they cover overhead, can offer some discount and still get a profit Edited October 2, 2013 by WILF

Not that big a difference considering wholesale will be around £

lurchergrrl 1,441
I've got the Parcours too - best boot I've had apart from my Dubarry's. They don't half take a beating and never let me down yet. I find the size a bit generous so I just put on a thick sock
paulus 26
from a manufacturing point of view the price to the distributor would be roughly 3 times the raw material cost, the distributor would then add 50% add sell to the retailer who would set their price according to their own market requirements, when a ,manufacturer also becomes a retailer then the price has to be set to allow its commercial customers to compete on price. Ideation 8,217
Even with the neoprene lining? Some folk have said those ones are a wee bit tight.
