MIK 4,763
Stripped mine out and re-soldered the connections. Seems fine so far ;-)solder is no good always use block connecters so if it breaks you can fix it Connector block doesn't fit inside the handle or the male fag lighter and won't connect the wires to the fittings in either. As for being no good...must've been my imagination!!! just trying to give you some advice as I have tried every lamp there is and I am out nearly every night of the week either on foot or in the truck and my lamps take a bit of a bashin so over the years I have rigged mine up so that it is as bomb proof as I can get it ....small block connections do fit in the handle and I do all my connections with this ...I have used solder with the rubber crommit over it but if they give then it cant be fixed right in the field .....I do all my connections in blocks then taped up and If they do give I have a small screwdriver inside my lamp back so it can be fixed Quote Link to post
paulus 26
unscrew the reflector housing, remove the bulb, drill out the pop rivet holding the bulb holder in and remove it, solder the two spring connectors that attach to the bulb holder, replace the bulb holder and pop rivet it back into place, replace the reflector housing. pop the red end cap off the handle. pull the wires out, cut off the bullet connectors, replace with a micro scotch block, replace the red end cap. cut off the cigar connector, wire direct to the battery remember to add an inline fuse on the live wire Quote Link to post
Hot Meat 3,109
Tbh I never realy had a problem with my lamps. I'm out most nites an they have lasted well. Never had to rewire them nowt, just a couple cable ties inside handle to stop wires getting pulled out. It's the flooking lithium an it's shifty connectors that are gripping my shut. But I dare not open it till I get me New one lol flook carrying a big heavy battery again. I'm too old for that lol Quote Link to post

Hot Meat 3,109
It's a few years old now but it is the lithium with power gauge so I think it's the newer un. I'll man up an open it soon lol Quote Link to post

I'll man up an open it soon lol the newer ones have a protection circuit in you should be safe Advantages and Limitations of Lithium Ion Batteries AdvantagesHigh energy density, potential for yet higher capacities. Relatively low self-discharge, self-discharge is less than half that of Ni-Cd and NiMH. Low Maintenance, no periodic discharge is needed; no memory. LimitationsRequires protection circuit, protection circuit limits voltage and current. Battery is safe if not provoked. Subject to aging, even if not in use, storing the battery in a cool place and at 40 percent state-of-charge reduces the aging effect. Moderate discharge current. Subject to transportation regulations, shipment of larger quantities of Li-ion batteries may be subject to regulatory control. This restriction does not apply to personal carry-on batteries. Expensive to manufacture, about 40 percent higher in cost than Ni-Cd. Better manufacturing techniques and replacement of rare metals with lower cost alternatives will likely reduce the price. Not fully mature, changes in metal and chemical combinations affect battery test results, especially with some quick test methods. . Quote Link to post
dommorris92 64
Paulus you keep mentioning a inline fuse . . Has the cig plug got one built in ? If not why bother with one Quote Link to post
