A Few Hours With Terriers And Shotgun

Recommended Posts

Was up on some high ground today on a grouse moor to walk some rushes up with the terriers, the weather was awful heavy rain and wind yet there was still a fair few rabbits sitting in the rushes,it's quick shooting up there you only get a quick glimpse of the rabbits between clumps of rushes,we managed ten in a couple of hours with a couple taking out the wall

Couple of pics

Two taken out the wall,a left and right

Aye Colin took me up to Scotland and the little dog worked all day..

Done bit ferreting, he was good dog around the nets..

Flushed a few from rough patches and retrieved like a spaniel..

Collins a crack shot with a gun..

Never seen Lucy work ,but heard good stuff.. She's Blazes mother ??

I've been enjoying the same with my terrier past few weeks. Getting some tidy bags and cracking pre season sport.

It's a right buzz when you see the terrier hunt a line nose down tail up zigzaging on the scent like a spaniel, into the cover and you hear the pace pick up and then suddenly the terrier starts screaming on the arse of a rabbit........ crash bang it's out and running, smooth swing and over it roles. Out comes the terrier hunting for the line again, sometimes needing a bit of guidance with a hand signal, finds it's rabbit and makes a proud retrieve holding her head high.

Rivals a November rough shoot over spaniels even if I do say so myself.
