Outlaw Pete 2,224
F**k it, Chid! I'd seen those damn things all over Google, as I tried to research this subject. Incredibly, I was so wired with all the frustration I was encountering, I never once stopped to actually examine WTF they were! I'll have a Good look at them now. Not cheap. But what is, about horses?! Couple of them could just possibly be an idea ~ Unless GTE and I can figure anything else out? Nothing's going to be cheap, instant or simple. But, like so many things; Got right? This'll be a job that'll pay for itself over and over again

Outlaw Pete 2,224
Convert your cow stalls Would seem the safest option. Shoot the f**king pair of them could well seem another ..... No. Things are starting to crop up now. Repeated principles. A picture's forming. Hmm. I've even just had a little brain wave, right then, that could maybe add more ..... If this discussion carries on to the point of meriting it? Tomorrow I'll take photo's of the stalls I have. I'm sure it would help greatly if others could get a firm, visual idea of what I have out there. I'll take measurements too. Try to give ye a virtual tour of my cow shed. Although, these are beef cattle. But, that's just how I'd describe the lay out. Only, there's standing stalls for cattle, in twos. Sorry; I'm sat in the Chat Room, watching a soap opera ( ). I'll take photo's tomorrow. Let everyone see what we're looking at. Okay? Really appreciate ye input as ye obviously know what the f**k we're talking about here

unlacedgecko 1,467
Install a single ring at chest height. Put the lead rope through the ring then counter weight the loose end of the rope with a wooden block with a hole drilled in the middle, large enough to stop the rope passing back through the ring. It best if the rope and counter weight are on the other side of a barrier to the horse. The feed passage is a good place, as you can use it to feed hay as well. Some people put travel boots on their horses overnight to reduce the risk of rope burn. In these circumstances a chain is not recommend as it would be difficult to release the horse in the event of a fire.
Outlaw Pete 2,224
Thanks, ULG. That's just about sorted out the last details Block of wood, eh? I was vaguely aware that the back of my mind was struggling to figure out what to use. Now, the damn frustrating bit is having to wait till next week, when I go into town again. Buy all the bits I'll need. Still, I can use that time in clearing the bays and so forth. What a relief it'll be to get them out of that damn mud bath of a pen! Cheers, all
