Dacia Duster's 4X4

My lease is running out in the new year and i have been looking at these recently, seem to be getting good reviews, good off road with high 55mpg Anybody got one?

I seen a new duster yesterday an remembered this thread,it didn't look that tough or have much clearance,think it would be all show and no go.

Shame as I seen the older dusters in the nineties and they were tough as nails with good clearance.

I recently used a duster 4x4 in spain for a few week to mooch about . All the military & police seem to use them there for the quarry type roads. It was a little stiff on the suspension, & can be quite agricultural on the gears, but that's a good thing in my opinion since there built for off road & the testing terrains, but drove well with good mpg & 4x4 ability.

 

It aint no "US Jeep" with tougher than touch build quality , by a long way but there again many others ain't either. Comfort , matches any jap 4x4 .But value for money they look a good deal. As for corrosion I really don't know .

 

Cars in Europe generally outlast there owners with the dry air & warmer climate. Personally, I guess it have to have some good under body protection for our salty damp shores .

i think they have a renault engine and the new terrano is also based on these... shame i did like nissans:(

Well if they are remotely like the old ones they will be a bag of shite, build quality was none existent, doors dropped and they rotted to bits, but having said that if they return 55mpg that is a plus point, I cant think of many 4x4s that will do that.

in the brochure it said 55mpg, but realistically you would be getting around the 45-50mpg mark, that's what attracted me as i do around 25k a year. I would like a 4x4 pickup but at 30mpg it would cost a fortune to run.
