just a thought, to anyone travelling to these 2 great shows,( yes i will be), to race their lurchers, over the last 2 years i have seen a huge number of purebred greyhounds racing as lurchers, definately not fair on TRUE lurcher owners, these people who have" you know who you are" bred greyhounds to primarily race cross bred dogs, you should be ashamed of yourselves, to pass on these dogs without tattoe's, as lurchers, is wrong, i hope you can all be very happy to decieve and cheat, theres greyhounds coming as far as norfolk to ireland , that will be travelling to race, so be warned well in advance, no good crying later that you were beaten by a purebred greyhound, oh and to the racing organisers, take a stand not only to ban certain individuals from across the water, but to all, owners of purebreds, yes , you too, know who owners are, also, to the organisers , put into use a video camera on winning line, as last year at p.o.p the wrong dog was given the result,

just my opinion

If you feel that strong about it dont go keep your cash in your pocket , its only a rosette

A lot of the times the racing has cash prizes mate and they take it VERY serious down south I've seen a few unfair things going on and that was just terrier racing they take that serious aswell.

I've never really payed much attention to the lurcher racing though I won't race my lurchers as I'd find it hard to live with if a dog picked up a injury or worse while racing its hard enough to live with when it happens in the field and standing there listening to lurchers barking like feck isn't music to my ears lol.

Surely no one would be as desperate to deceive....are you suggesting that some folk might try and pass a pure greyhound off as having 1/8th collie in it...just to win a wee dash up a field..... :hmm: It's certainly not entering into the spirit of things and and in my opinion that's cheating and pretty poor form.... Desperadoes.... :icon_eek:

Unless someone comes forward and volunteers to stand at the finish line with a video camera there won't be one at POP.

All the organisers at POP racing are volunteers, all takings go to the Wakes Charity and all Trophy's are donated.

Mistakes happen and there will always be those that cheat and unfortunately, like most people, I cannot tell the difference between a Greyhound and a Whippet/ Grey???????

Stuart you wil find that that it was the year before the wrong dog was placed first. Not last year as the organisers were cheats and dont like the owner of the winning dog that won!!!

Sue Linger ( so you know I dont hide behind names as well )!!!!!

Its all down to integrity and honesty.....

Easy to pass a full grey off as having a tiny bit of whippet in there etc....

And whos to know....or say it hasnt??

There will be cheating and underhanded tactics..... in every sport....

Its rife.....

If theres a prize to be won..... theres always somebody wanting to win it....

By hook or crook....

You can only rely on peoples moral integrity.... and some are lacking...
