The old saying is "you won't catch anything if your line's not in the water"!!!There's every chance you'll catch during to hottest, brightest part of the day but you'll increase your chances by fishing late in the evening and/or early in the morning. Also depends on what you're fishing for. If your fishing for game species...salmon, seatrout, rainbows, brownies etc then, by a long way your best chances are early and late unless it's seatrout then during the hours of darkness on a dark, muggy night ;-)

Mackerel and bass are 2 species I can think of that will bite in strong sunshine.

Rudd will often take a floating crust of a hot day too but like most fish species early morning or late evening is usually better.

Cheers chaps just wondered. When I was a kid starting to fish was always taught to avoid the hottest brightest part of the day

If the incoming tide suited between 11 and 4 then fish on mate,, mackerel were fair bouncing off the harbour wall today after the sandeels ,, stick a hat on you will be grand.
