marshman 7,758
A good few years ago I watched several bullfights I think I saw eights bulls killed in all . You definitely feel you're like watching something from an ancient era , you could almost be in the coliseum . The matadors are like superstars signing autographs and having there pictures taken afterwards, and we was made very welcome by the people . A strange day one which I haven't forgotten! baw 4,360
The bullfights were my passion for many years and I hope one day to go back to spain to follow the bulls again (after the babys a bit older) I'm not going to go into it here as I would end up feeling the same as arguing about fox hunting with an anti, frustrated, if you enjoy it no reason is necessary if you dont 'get' it no explanation is possible. One thing I will say, its not a sport and you would never hear anyone who loves the bulls describe it as such. In spain its protected as part of the nations culture and heritage, they have done better at protecting their culture than we have here. If you dont like the look of it then at the very least dont demean yourself or lower yourself to the level of an anti by gobbing off and offering an opinion on something you have no knowledge nor experience of. If anyone genuinely has an interest in the bulls and has any questions I will do my best to answer them. You seriously can't be comparing bullfighting with fox hunting, are you? Ones a wild pest, hunted in its natural environment given fair law. The others a trapped animal, horns filed, getting slowly killed by an egotistical fanny surrounded by morons baying for its blood. No comparison. It's a sick form of entertainment, nothing more. No i'm not comparing the 2 in any way i'm comparing people who rage against it with no knowledge or experience. Just like with foxhunting or indeed people who eat 6 week old electrocuted chickens in fast food shops I dont need nor want to defend myself to people who think otherwise. Iv seen the inside workings of both foxhunting and the bullfights in spain, I really have no interest in defending either to someone who has already decided i'm a moron. Sounds to me you lack the ability to defend it. Fair dos. My view on it and yes you are correct, you couldn't pay me to watch it. My views are, it serves no purpose other than for barbaric entertainment. Are you capable of giving us a good purpose for it? At least with hunting, we are providing a service, eliminating a problem be it a fox stealing chickens, a rabbit eating crops. I'll grant you hare coursing is probably the closest form of hunting for pleasure but even that's on the hares terms, animal to animal, quick death. Not by some macho ponce (except saluki owners)
kranky 507
I think the comparison between fox hunting and bull fighting is a fair one if you ask yourself this question. How would you feel if there were members of a Spanish/Portuguese bullfighting forum discussing foxhunting and calling it barbaric, even though the majority of them had never seen it and those that had didn't understand it? I am not going to sit in my house in the UK and try and dictate what goes on in another country or criticise someones traditions. Maybe those of us that follow and support fox hunts and who love the ceremony and tradition associated with it are cut from the same cloth as those who cheer on the matador. I guess what I'm trying to say is..............................................................................OLE!!!!!!!!!!!

Dogs getting skinned alive in Russia...... Who cares, we don't understand. Chinese frying fish alive and eating them still alive on the table...... Seal cubs getting battered, batter in boys. mushroom 14,216
What? So they stick shit in the bull. Then ..... what? Do they get a vet to patch it up? Or do they 'humanely' kill it and butcher it? In Mexico they make tacos out of him

I had a mental image of you rolling up your sleeves, adjusting your petticoat and leaning towards the computer screen as you started to type!! You big fanny!!!!!! You can comment all you want, I never said that. You can debate all you like, that's your right. I was merely stating that there is a point of reference between the way people view bull fighting and fox hunting. If you was honest, you'd admit that seals get everything they deserve. All that cuteness hides a fish eating machine with no regard for salmon stocks. I don't think caving there heads in is tradition, just the most effective way of harvesting them. Everyone could say, I know more than you so there, it's ma Baw I'm not playing. He's obviously passionate about the subject but like all passions we get enthralled in, we can sometimes become blind to what's actually happening. You can create the biggest coliseum the world has ever seen, the strongest bulls, the bravest men....... It's still a trapped dumb animal forced to defend its life till its inevitable slow death for nothing more than entertainment.
