100% Lamping Dog

Recommended Posts

Bought a bitch that was only used on the lamp she was near on 3 when I got her. Had the odd outing with terriers that was about it. Had her hunting up and catching bigger stuff within a couple of weeks and she was still perfect with recall on the lamp. I couldn't personally just use my dogs for lamping it's a waste. For me lamping is just a means to an end it gets my dogs the work they need but I Deffonitly don't enjoy as much as I do other forms of lurcher work. There's a couple of lads I know all they do is lamp and they get good bags of any quarry. But had a couple of walks with them in the day and the dogs pulled up at hedges and wouldn't find any game at all. They are just point and slip lurchers that looked worse than average in the hours of daylight. But back out on the lamp they are still catching good heads of game.atb

Well,.if we are only talking rabbits,...it is uneconomical to keep lots of different dogs, for different tasks,...   Most dogs can put on a fair showing, at both daytime and after dark excursions,.

why would you keep a dog that may have the potential to be a great dog at many things and stifle that potential ?

it makes for a better walk if your dog can work up in the day and switch on in the night
