nottzhunter08 898
Ive heard stories of people ferreting holes in the bottoms of trees for squirrel, also heard a few folk say theyve bolted foxes from rabbits warrens, like said rats are another. Is there any other small game that nest underground that a ferret could tackle? Quote Link to post

johnny boy68 11,726
how does ferreting tree rats work ? When I was younger I'd take a old wellie with me and bolt them into that................just stick the ferret in the squirrel hole and wait for the chaos. 1 Quote Link to post
johnny boy68 11,726
If your doing squirrels you may need to give the dog a bunk up to get a mark. 5 Quote Link to post

Malt 379
A ferret is a ferret, it will enter a hole and bolt/kill whatever it finds in there, that's about it! Some may do it better than others but they are all still pretty much one trick ponies. Don't think you could really class one as an 'all rounder' like you would a dog that can run a lamp, find, flush and catch/retrieve game, locate quarry in the ground, etc, etc.. ..unless some's planning to release a new super line of super do anything all rounder ferrets for when the EU poley/micro/greyhound markets get saturated! Jamie m 668
I have a ferret that hunts very well above ground has even . Now this was witnessed by three other people she took a rabbit mid air as it exited a warren and pinned it by the the neck on the deck I wish I'd had a camcorder , and she's very happy nailing them in cover to , you do have to be on your toes as she's quick as lightning through the scrub, Quote Link to post
