paulus 26
Recently Animal Aid employed a converted ambulance as a mobile exhibition Unit. This vehicle had been on the road for around twelve month, touring many parts of the UK promoting Animal Aid’s views regarding animal rights, especially the badger cull.Nothing wrong with that, as we live in a democratic society and are entitled to our own opinions.Unfortunately for Animal Aid when the ambulance was stopped by Gloucestershire police on May 2nd. The police found it was illegally being taxed as an emergency vehicle paying nil duty rather than the full duty required for a goods vehicle. If this were not bad enough Animal Aid had just launched a campaign against shooting claiming that the tax payer is subsidising the licensing of shotgun and firearms certificates. Perhaps Animal Aid don’t understand the words ‘double and standards’.This vehicle also displayed a large number of blue lights and green side markings and inappropriate white lights which are all illegal. There are also numerous questions to be answered over the vehicle not having a tachograph and an an official goods vehicle operators licence. The proper maintenance this vehicle is also brought into doubt if not properly licensedThe director of Animal Aid, Andrew Tyler, has lectured on the need for honestywhile campaigning for animal rights. He has spoken of the need “fidelity to truth” and he has talked of trust. He has also stated Animal Aid “confront cadre of professional liars” working for farming and shooting etc.Clearly if LACS and Animal Aid seek to take part in a reasoned debate over proper animal welfare and serious conservation they must put their houses in good order first. If you see the Animal Aid ambulance about, post any information, so we can all help keep it legal and road worthy, to the benefit of all road users.Registration KF52 ZFAMake – MercedesModel – 416 cdiBody type – large square box body with narrow tail lift to rear.Colour – white ( may have other colour strips to front, rear and sides)
