Thistles? One For The Scotts Lads ....?

Recommended Posts

I was hand clearing thistles, along my meadows fence line today. Has to be done, or they seed onto the meadow and I lose serious money.

Anyway, these are the standard " Scottish Thistle ". Three foot tall. Prickly as all hell. Purple heads.

Took out two, well loaded wheel barrows full. (Only one, last year. Like f**king islamists they are! I'm going chemical on their shit next year! Stop this before it over runs my land!)

My point is though; There was one, solitary White thistle! Leaves where cream, where they should have been green. Flowering head was white, not purple. I left it alone.

Just asking; How common are they? Is it sort of like an albino mammal? Wonder if it'd seed more white ones? Anyone up on this shit?

There is a very pale Thistle calle onopordum.

It`s a bit less common than Milk thistle but I`ve seen a few. Very Pale grey leaves, and a whitish look about it,

Gets called the Scotch Thistle. Looks amazing in the garden when it`s 7ft tall
