Mesh Boards & Twine

Recommended Posts

Dose size matter lol well i think it dose matching your board size to the twine you are using can be a guessing game what size board to use and how much stretch a twine has . I was making some hemp nets once using a 2 /1/4 board then started to make some nets out of some white poly i had bought using the same board not think how much stretch it had i made about 12 up and decided to try them out next time ferreting well the day came to try them out and low and behold the rabbits that bolted went straight through the nets lol lesson learned always check how much stretch the twine has your knitting. Has any one else had rabbits go through there nets. Now if i think the twine has a bit more give in it i use a 2 inch board :D

2 1/4" spacer for me no matter whether it's spun poly, hemp or nylon. Never had any go through though as James say's...the whippet nails em as soon as they hit the net...sometimes even tries before they hit the net

You mean looser your knots no tight enough double knot everything or you mean there longer ?. double knot your end mesh so there the same size as the rest of the row , but your doing something wrong moving your finger too early and letting it slip would be just a guess though

How do you guys sort a loose loop out if you get one? usually my outside loops are looser than the meshes between( i mean a few mil longer) not sure how it happens tho lol

Can't quite figure out what you mean. Do you mean when you've knitted your 1st row onto the ring? If so...when knitting onto the ring the outside loops are usually slightly shorter than the middle loops. It's because of the curve on the ring. It straightens out as you go through the rows. Hope that helps
