Shock of the day for me was seeing Terry Turkington. I hadn't seen Terry for a few years and to think he always gives us stick about keeping racing lurchers and there he's breeding racing ferrets.....

I must say this was the highlight of the day for me.I never laughed and cheered so much in a very long time. What sport and excitement did these little creatures bring to the show. I think I would of preferred the show ring, to be down around the dog show ring area somewhere. There were quite a few people missed them. They dident know it was taking place in the main arena area . Food for thought for next year. Excellent entertainment, and a big well done Darren, Stephen and Graham.

A big well done to both Graham and Darren, put on a great show, with some excellent prizes, and all in a short period of time, hats off to yas lads. Nothing can pull a crowd like a few ferrets, or was it Graham's shouting? Lol well done again lads.

Just looking at the pics Dazzam put up. And everyone that is standing watching, is either laughing or have a smile on their face. Yas should be proud of that, introducing the commeical little creatures to loads of new people. Can't wait to the next fair/show that has ferret racing and showing at it.

It was a pleasure to help Darren with this event and from all accounts it seemed to bring a few smiles to people on the day which is how we hoped it would go. I know Darren has thanked Janet for the wonderful coat she made and Brian for the ferret carry box ,Deben ect ,and I would also like to echo that thanks to all those involved. But I want to also say thanks to Darren for having such good prizes for I know he was out a fair bit of pocket himself with trophies rosettes ,pipes ect ,ect and when I offered pay for half the answer was "Give my head piece" which when translated into hunting terms means I will be digging to every ferret for the next three seasons :D:D Also I think its worth mentioning a big thank you also to all the people who brought their ferrets to race and show. Everyone took it for what it is, a bit of fun with like minded people. Wish all sections of our wee hunting world could see shows and fairs in the same way

VC - great pics - let 's have them for our web site and publicity. What a good organising team - hands up who would like to see them at Birr? Think the magazine could at least sponsor their accommodation - not of course their drink bill!

No worries mate you had a lot of organising to do with the kids, well that's your story.....but we know better  you were spending hours on getting Lady bathed and groomed for the showing :boogy: . Well done to you!!!!!!! as always she was looking immaculate. It would have been nice to see her run with all the other kc reg whippets on the Saturday.

Forgot to add that every child who watched or participated went away with something. Many thanks to Graham and Nicky for making up Ferret Cones filled with all sorts of sweets and goodies to keep them happy and hyper throughout the day :laugh: .

Can someone put a pic of them up as they were first class.

A Tribute to the late John Shaw who passed away  last Thursday 6th November 25

      I Am Free
Do not grieve for me now my  friends and family, I am free
I am following the path God Laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To Love, to live, to hunt, to show my treasured Whippets, or play.
I found a peace at close of day.
Be not burdened with the times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,
      He set me free.
John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.
      For Country Sports Fraternity
