Non Lead Pellets??

Recommended Posts

Hello, lads.

I've hopefully just scored a new permission shooting over a waterway but it's strictly no lead allowed. I've used Dynamics before with good results in .20 with my HW90 but the last batch I had were all over the place and I've lost confidence in them.

I can use either ,177 or ,22 so caliber's not an issue so can anyone recomend anything? Is anyone using the Dynamics in these calibers with good results and was I just unlucky with the .20s?

Any advice greatfully recieved.

Cheers.

Edit to add.... I've just realised I've posted this in the wrong section..... ARSE!!! :icon_redface::laugh:

i know a bloke that has a load of logun penetrators in .20 if theyre any good andy mate?

Now then, Wurz.

I'm using the Loguns at the moment and they're a cracking pellet considering the dodgy geezer I got them from!! lol :thumbs:

I can't use them here though, so I'm needing some tin pellets, I guess. I think H and N do a version of the FTTs in tin but I can't seem to find any.

How's the 4Q doing? Give it a hug from me!! :D

Thanks for the replys, lads.

FTT Green, that's why I couldn't find them. Thanks for that, dtw.

I was useing the Dynamics for a good couple of years until I got put off them, Stealthy. A good few thousand went through the 90's barrel with no apparent ill effects. I know tin's a good bit harder than lead but it's still nowhere near as hard as decent quality steel so I can't see there being a long term issue. Hopefully....

I've done a fair bit of testing with lead free pellets, the one thing they all have in common is they need a totally clean barrel, clean as in scrubbed and scrubbed again, no trace of lead anywhere or you get shotgun groups with everything. Some pellets prefer unchoked barrels as well.

When a total lead ban comes in we'll have no choice but to use the lead free alternatives so you might as well start looking now.

I'd been more than very happy with the Dynamics until a batch I bought a couple of years back ruined my confidence in them. They really did go from pretty much pellet on pellet to six inch groups at 30 yards. As witnessed by Pianoman.

It really pissed me off as I went through everthing until it became apparent that is was the pellets that were at fault.

I know what you mean though as I also use FTTs and Baracudas and if the barrel wasn't clean before switching then the first twenty or so shots were all over the place.

That's good to hear, because first it was fishing shot, now its the wildfowlers turn, us next, did you find them as accurate Andy?

They were really very good indeed until the bad batch I had and to be fair, I've not tried them in .20 since.

They worked a treat in my .177 Diana 52 and a mate's .22 HW80 loved them. As mentioned above though, they really do need a clean barrel or they won't seem to group at all.

I had a Diana which I bought back in 83 brand new, think it was a G80? used it to whack ducks on the water ways, might be wrong, it was a long time ago, Falcongit has a better memory for that period :D
