Put a post up about this a few months back, Jack. In short, yep, many years ago I (supposedly) had a hob out of a 100% wild Polecat (though are their any real pure bloods left?), she was brought injured and pregnant to a ferret breeder from North Wales, who suspected she was the real deal, had her tested in Liverpool Uni and confirmed (he did show me the paperwork), she had a litter an I had one.

Grew into a huge thing, very strong. Tame as feck, when handled, miss one day an lord help ya!! Usless as a worker, too fast, killed all an would go wild as feck.....a liability!! When put to bitches knocked holy feck out of 'em whilst lining, damn near killed some. Some kits made ok-ish workers but most like their sire, nuts! Bred out of these again an some good workers were had. Asime1X on here had some.

Maybe it was an maybe it wern't, all I know is......feckin weird !!!

That says it all, ferrets are bred to be tame and slow hunters, you dont want a ferret to catch rabbits just bolt them so you can catch them.......polecats have to catch rabbits to survive and are a completely different kettle of fish to a ferret...

Like dogs and wolfs,

anyone wnat to buy a wolf x greyhound lurcher? :D

'completely different kettle of fish to a ferret' those were my exact words to him last night... :D

If anyone has watched stoats, weasels hunting on any of the Wildlife programmes on the box, and have sat in awe at their speed think about if you had a ferret at that speed, how the feck could you work it... say goodbye to it the minute you put it on the ground... :o

he did go on to explain that the colouration of the nose and where the white marks were made it a truly 'wild polecat' and went in depth about F1 and F2 hybrids... even put up some pics to explain... whilst sitting there having a few :drink: it became apparent to me that this kid was not going to listen... so I let him carry on whilst adding the odd " f*****g BOLLOCKS' in between his postings... :haha: it did make for quite an amusing half hour or so, even when I posted 'YOU HAVE POLECAT COLOURED FERRETS YOU NUMPTY' he still wouldn't listen, but this got me thinking has someone brainwashed him into thinking that he has the real deal and are/were they in it for the money...

anyway the above posts are obviously (to me) from people who have had first hand experience of wild polecat breeding, I'll let some more people post now...

:clapper: There are very few genuine wild polecats used in ferret breeding,...and with good reason :whistling:

However,...this season we took a wild poley from out of a drop trap,..he had killed all the rabbits inside and was lying atop of his carnage.. This was NO 'ferret gone wild',...I've trapped scores of them lost feckers,. :whistling:

We do have a wild colony of foumarts locally and the law states that they must be released if captured accidentally.

This we have done..But,..before we had chance to liberate this fine,.if somewhat crazy critter,..he managed to mate with several 'silver mitt' and black -eyed -white bitch ferrets ,...shit happens...

Anyway,.the resulting kits are just as I predicted,...:doh:

But,.amazingly beautiful animals....fecking useless,.but truly stunning... :clapper:

This season will reveal all,....:laugh: All the best to ALL rabbiters,...cheers,...CHALKWARREN....

From my little knowlage, it might be the next, or the next, or the next Chalks......I wish you well..... :victory:

Best wishes to all digits..... :D
