Anyway this company specialises in industrial analysis for quality control etc. They are affiliated with a local University and we liased with a Professor that has pioneered a few of the techniques, in this case specifically in laser analysis equipment. Anyway, to the point, he showed us a bit of kit that they have invented, essentially it's a camera system that uses lasers to scan for very specific signatures such as those from firearms or explosives residue to different narcotics residues. Simply put, one of these systems can pick out an individual in a crowd that has fired a gun or made a bomb. That alone makes this technology absolutely revolutionary in the fight against modern terrorism. Then he relayed the story of the '2010 cargo plane bomb plot' where Al-Queda planted Pentaerythritol tetranitrate high explosive in printer cartridges in a cargo flight bound for the US. This flight was given the OK by airport security but due to an intelligence led operation the police were very precisely pointed in the direction of where to check and with more help than they should have needed foiled the attempted attack. The problem was, current airport security can not detect PETN HE with X-ray scanners as it has the same signature as the cartridge paint! Clever f***ing terrorists! The laser scanning technology I was shown I am told would absolutely have detected that explosive with no need for a heads up from the intelligence services! So why the hell are these not in every single airport in this country? One reason............ the business men that run the airports can't make money from it and the politicians aren't willing to push it through in this age of cuts! Apparently Gordon Brown made the commitment but then he left the show..... Had a collars and what have ya stall near the lurcher ring? Was gonna come over and say hello but wasn't a hundred percent and didn't want to look a bellend just walking up to a complete stranger and saying "alright mate are you Tomo off THL, I'm Born Hunter!" But in reality our Security Services aren't held up with PCness like the police are. This Prof also told me about a not too cautious Arab BBC reporter who without prior concent thought he could film within the Airport after the 2010 bomb plot, moments later police X5s had him pinned to the security fence! mushroom 14,247 Posted June 4, 2013 Report Share Posted June 4, 2013 I fly quite a lot and I have noticed a difference in the way I'm treated in comparison to muslims I get treated more like a terrorist than they do it's fuuckin ridiculous. A few months ago my friend and his girlfriend both are Daz white were flying from an English Airport to here, she was carrying some jam in her bag for presents when the security found it they went mental at her, treated her like she was carrying semtex and refused to allow them to pass through security after my mate argued that they were highly unlikely to cause damage with a couple of jars of Hartley's finest obviously she burst into tears the whole thing was like a sketch show ffs. Yet some wanted paki terrorist is able to escape the country through an airport dressed in a black bedsheet with a slit for eyes Fuuckin ridiculous START RACIAL PROFILING NOW!!!
